Day 16: Inspiration
Been trying to read novels again since I feel they give very rich imagery for us to envision and piece together. Currently in the middle of The Halloween Tree by Ray Bradbury, where a bunch of boys visit a haunted house on ol Hallows' Eve

Day 11: Turning Point
Being accepted somewhere is a turning point for me. To finally belong somewhere was something I had been waiting for; for a long time. I ended up making an animation trying to figure out how to stage the drawing right! Which was kinda cool- could be better, but I wanna catch up. But I put up a page of scribbles of me with 8 arms haha!

Fellas, I apologize for getting so behind-- a lot of you seem to be in the same overwhelming boat, though, yeah? (Also, sorry for the wonky photos.)
Anyhow: here's two days' worth of catching up!
A comic: This is a page from the comic I'm working on now. Not very many people know about it yet, so consider this a trust exercise.
Favorite TV show: 30 Rock! Favorite TV show starring live-action-actual-actors, anyway. Parks & Rec is a close second.

Day 14: Favorite Fairy Tale
Took a little liberty with today's entry since seeing dark takes on fairy tales is always fun. Had a few story dynamic ideas for Pinocchio - one of which was if Geppetto were an abusive father

Best Animated Character - Chernabog
It is simply no secret that Chernabog the demon from "Night on Bald Mountain" is possibly the most powerful performance in animation to this date. Bill Tytla is my all time favorite animator. I chose to do Chernabog not because he is the most complex or well developed character, but because he is ANIMATED the best. The artistry and passion that went into Tytla's finest performance at the Disney studio is something I am sure I will never fully understand. I worked with my friend Chelsea Traynor on this piece of good ol' Chernabog. I did the orignal line work of the drawing and the initial coloring, Chel came in and helped with lighting it better. Chel is an animation student at SAIC and if you aren't familiar with her work here is a link to some of her stuff:

I had to include some of Bill's work on Chernabog as well. Just cause I love his work so much! Below are some frames from his original drawings!

Day 12: Most Recent Accomplishment
Yesterday I gave a few presentations to some classes at my old high school by sharing my experiences as an alum who is returning to art school, the philosophies that took me to dream education, and the overall meaning and fulfillment of telling stories. Pursuing art as a career is something very unheard of in our community so, even though I'm just a student myself, I knew there was something unique I could still give. After each presentation, there were students who would approach me and really open themselves up about their own dreams.
Day 11: Turning Point
About a year ago, I left college in Chicago to shoot for my dream schools. I had to take a "year off" and, for the first time, was completely dependent on self-motivation. Learned more about myself over the past 12 months than any other...

Day 8: Fav Animated Character
I had such a hard time deciding what to pick! Most of the characters I was mentally debating were animated by Glen Keane, so it wasn't any competition. Ariel will always be my favorite animated character. Seriously, in order to draw this...I had to draw with sincerity :)
Day 10: Fav Candy
Day 6 - Favorite book
I read Robert McKee's book on screenwriting and I pretty much wanted to bookmark each page because he had such insightful things to say.

Day 7: Favorite Movie
I cannot describe how much I love Spirited Away without acting crazy! Speaking of crazy, how about this week eh? Been busy but I'm catching up.
